On September 14 our very dear mum, Phyllis Wilson, passed away suddenly at home, aged 72, despite the very best efforts of Poole Hospital’s oncology & radiotherapy teams and Dr Mike Bayne.
Almost five years ago mum had a brain tumour which her consultant Dr Bell and his team, aided by Southampton Hospital, successfully cleared with chemotherapy.
Thanks to them she had four more good years enjoying her golden anniversary, the weddings of three grandchildren as well as gaining three new grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
When the tumour returned in March this year Mum had many stays again on Durlston Ward and later visits to the radiotherapy department.
She was always so appreciative of the kindness, patience and professionalism of all the staff and often said that she couldn’t have had better care if she’d gone privately.
On behalf of Mum, Dad and all the family I would like to thank them all very sincerely – not forgetting too her friends on Sandbanks Ward where she was a volunteer.
The NHS deserves more praise. We are very lucky to have such a good service.
Mrs Helen Gardner, Old Wareham Road, Poole
