I was in the Sovereign Centre in Boscombe the other day and got quite excited to see an exhibition of photographs.
“Great”, I thought: “Some local culture being promoted”.
How wrong I was.
There were photos of smashed and broken windows, grotty curtains and poor slummy housing.
This was all supposed to be an effort to promote something called ‘mental illness awareness’.
Anyone looking at these photos would feel like giving up and quite possibly they could tip you into having mental illness problems even if you had never thought about it before!
A display of something a bit more bright and positive would do much more good to people with issues and those of us who are supposed to be more aware of them.
So please would the organisers, whoever they may be, take note.
