I would like to say I too feel angry about the treatment of my daughter.
My daughter, who is in the medical profession, felt humiliated and dejected after applying for a business account at a bank in Bournemouth.
She wants to start her own business and has spent £1,500 of her own money on training. She also has a good credit rating.
The application process is lengthy – a lot of documentation to complete and then an hour’s appointment. The lady interviewing her was pleasant and could see no reason for any problems.
However, after checking with the system, my daughter’s request was rejected with no reason given.
My daughter does not want to borrow a single penny! All she requires is a business account so that her customers have the option of paying with a debit or credit card. The tax office also recommends businesses are conducted through business accounts.
I cannot understand how a bank can see this as risky. The system definitely needs to be changed.
