A motor home appeared where I live recently. A man and a dog are living in it.

He comes back at lunch time to walk the dog then comes back at tea time, leaves the engine idling for up to an hour, changes his clothes, then goes out again.

We called the highways department at the council, who put us on to environmental health.

They told us that this caravan must be moved.

They told us that a tell-tale sign it is being slept in is that the cab is covered on the inside so that no one can see in.

We spoke to the same person later as the caravan had not moved.

We were told that they have to prove he is living there, and that they would have to speak to him. They saw the man leave at 8.30am but did not speak to him.

They told us originally it was illegal to live and sleep on the Queen’s Highway yet when we spoke a second time they said it is not.

It goes to show how easy it would be for travellers to move in and take an area over if this is the attitude of the council.
