TAKING a look around our town, it is very concerning to see the amount of business premises empty or businesses closing down. The situation is far worse than any experienced in the last 20 years. I attribute the decline to the totally unrealistic rents being demanded.
The seriousness of the situation cannot be underestimated as small businesses are a major source of employment in Bournemouth. Unless people think their business idea is affordable they are unlikely to venture into business.
The government should take action on business rents.
