Regarding the car park charges in this town.

We have just been for a walk on the East Cliff and noticed the proliferation of parking meters both there and on the adjoining roads, not to mention the cost of parking in one of the car parks.

Does Bournemouth want visitors or not?

Earlier this week we had a day out to Lyme Regis.

The shops, the beach and cafes were buzzing with holidaymakers.

We parked at the top of the town, with a road leading to the beach – the cost was £1.

Any day between 8am and 6pm the charge is £1. This was a West Dorset District Council car park.

Why doesn’t Bournemouth council take a leaf out of their book and actually encourage people into the town by reducing their charges instead of increasing them and putting parking meters everywhere? There is a recession – families won’t come back.
