It is disgraceful that Cllr Stribley should seek to use the Pitt report as justification for saying that all is well with Poole’s planning (Have Your Say, May 7).

When Sir Michael states this he is referring specifically to some unsubstantiated rumours alleging corruption that were investigated by the police. He is not referring to the competence of Poole’s planning.

The fact is that Pitt found much that was wrong with Poole’s planning committee and department – not least that it was a perceived conflict of interest to be both a cabinet member and chairman of the planning committee. Cllr Stribley failed to mention that she has now resigned from the cabinet.

The report also found that there was a serious breakdown of trust between residents and Poole planning.
