BOURNEMOUTH is changing and not always for the better.
With developers snapping up plots of land to cram houses on, the council has now resorted to removing and cutting back mature pines to accommodate builders.
In Wick Lane we recently had a couple of 60-plus feet taken down and others trimmed – not due to disease, not due to safety, but to fit in with nearby building work.
If the people responsible hide behind the excuse that the government inspector requested this action then he overstepped his authority and it should have been challenged.
It’s not what developers with big pockets want, it’s not what the inspector wants, it’s what the residents want that matters because we have to live with what remains.
If we continue to remove features such as these trees then Bournemouth will become as bland as many other towns.
Bournemouth council – review the tree preservation department and save us tax payers some money – it’s not working.
