I write in support of the letter on Saturday asking where our gym equipment for Branksome Rec is.

Time and again it’s a matter of no expense spared when it comes to Poole Park, Whitecliff and Sandbanks – new green gym equipment, lavish new and modernised cafes, polo on the beach... the list goes on.

Meanwhile on Branksome Rec – the largest recreation ground in the borough – the pavilion is left to rot, the ground is waterlogged, the basketball court decrepit, and now hopes of keep-fit equipment have been dashed in a BRAG v council stand-off.

In fact it has been suggested to me that the prospect of the gym gear was raised at this time specifically to wrong foot the BRAG application for the rec to be classified as a town green, meaning the public would then blame BRAG for blocking the gym equipment, strengthening the case for accepting Poole Town FC’s proposals.

Well whatever the truth here I agree with your correspondent – there is no conceivable reason why the green gym should have been be stopped.

Town green, or recreation ground, or green open space, please tell us, Poole council why have you stopped the new green gym?
