IT SADDENS me when there is yet another attack on the streets of Boscombe.
Even more it saddens me because of the tireless work that residents, traders and hoteliers do to promote the area.
Yes, it is news, but unwanted news for the effort these people put in.
However, Boscombe has an underbelly of a small minority of people whose actions paint a bleak picture of a great area.
Let’s understand that there are many good people who live and work in Boscombe and those I met were friendly, warm and kind.
I have a great deal of respect for Boscombe police and got to know many officers whose commitment to the area was unquestionable.
However, when you review Dorset Police websites and see some SNT priorities, it is interesting to note that they are dealing with environmental issues and not criminality.
Environmental issues are the work of the council and one does feel that once again the council is dragging its heels and that has probably paid a part in the rising issues of crime within Boscombe.
The public want to see the police on the streets, policing and not monitoring fly-tipping.
Boscombe has many dedicated people and it is those who should set an agenda for those agencies to address the issues, setting targets that can be measured in the short and long-term.
