Is it not time for the absurdly inadequate and highly dangerous eastbound slip road at Richmond Hill to be controlled by traffic lights? (Echo, Wednesday, July 15).

If, say, three or four cars are waiting to join the Wessex Way, then the lights would operate in their favour, stopping Wessex Way traffic for a mere 20 seconds or so, thus stopping all these costly accidents.

It is after all a practice now employed on our motorways.

Part of the problem here is that many drivers come through under the bridge well in excess of the 50mph limit making it almost impossible because of the terrible sight lines to join the traffic.
