ON THE matter of keeping our streets clean, the Poole councillor in Letters on Friday said that Poole has a success rate of 90 per cent in keeping streets clean.
But 90 per cent of suburban roads never get any litter from one month to another anyway.
The areas that get blitzed with littering are town centres, shopping parades and the service roads behind shops.
Litter comes from retail outlets and shopper, not from normal, suburban roads.
So to tell us that 90 per cent of our roads are not littered is not telling us anything about success, is it?
It’s just stating a fact: no littering happens in 90 per cent of our streets.
Meanwhile, the council is clearly still not on top of keeping clean the all important 10 per cent of retail areas which do suffer disgusting littering day in and day out.
During the day we never see any cleaners clearing litter, as once you used to every day.
