WOW – what a fantastic atmosphere!
AFC Bournemouth’s players delighted their fans last Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win over Grimsby.
This saved the club from relegation. A chorus of “We’re staying up” greeted the end of the match, and ‘Eddie Howdini’ (a pun on the manager’s name) was mobbed.
The spirit in the ground was tremendous. There was a real sense of unity.
It even went as far as the leaders of Christchurch, Bournemouth and Poole councils being seen together in the stands, all united against the drop!
All three of us wish the club every success for next season, both on and off the pitch.
Cllr Stephen MacLoughlin, leader, Bournemouth council Cllr Brian Leverett, leader, Poole council, Cllr Alan Griffiths, leader, Christchurch council
