THE residents of Hamworthy will feel very badly let down by the majority of Liberal Democrats on Poole council who did not support the bid for a loan of £10 million for the building of the second harbour crossing.
As was very clearly explained at the full council meeting, this is the only route that is likely to deliver a second harbour crossing possibly for over a generation.
Those councillors who did not support it were effectively voting against the bridge.
However, in spite of the negative attitude of the Liberal Democrats to Hamworthy, the bid will go ahead as the Conservatives unanimously backed the proposal for a loan.
In this extremely difficult time, with enormous challenges such as the bridge facing us we will only overcome our difficulties and move on and prosper if we have a very clear direction and a firm leadership.
Fortunately for Poole council we have both.
