THIS is for everyone who has been led to believe the council's plans for Wessex Fields will relieve their rush-hour car journey.

It will, but only for a very short time. When offices for 2,000 workers are built, things will get much worse, +449 per hour in Castle Lane West and +506 per hour Iford to Deansleigh Road (figures from council's own planning application), not mentioning the extra fly parking in local areas.

However, the planning application does not include offices at this stage, only the roads and junction over the A338, close to the Cooper Dean flyover, so these statements can be made and never mind the future chaos.

Worse still, these will not be new jobs for Bournemouth. Some businesses will migrate from the town leaving more empty office blocks, whilst green belt and conservation areas will be destroyed, leading to urban sprawl and decay of the town centre.

Royal Bournemouth Hospital could easily be provided with the vital sole access it needs, thus helping the situation without adding in even more traffic.

Present Tuckton roundabout works 2.5 miles away, severely affecting commuters on Castle Lane East and West, demonstrate how 'traffic sensitive' this already congested area is. Just think what years of major construction on the A338 will do.
