I SIMPLY wish to say thank you to all the TV programmers for producing such an incredible range of inspiring, mind-blowing programmes of educational interests.

Blue Planet speaks for itself with David Attenborough, the master. Then there's Gordon Buchanan's programmes and Simon Reeve with his in-depth travels showing wonderful countries and buildings, it all blows the mind as to the wonderful lives there are in our world.

But it also exposes the dubious underbelly of cheap jokes, rolling around on collapsing settees. Please do not offend our intelligence any more and get back to good wholesome values. The real and obvious concern is for our younger generation who seem hell-bent on mimicking these examples and are clearly following them.

Watch any interview with young people in Europe, they can present a comprehensible sentence, in English. Do the same in the UK and it seems to be a problem. Please, please raise standards. This is a beautiful, green and pleasant land.
