IT seems to me that modern plumbing has created more problems than it has solved.

The fact that every house has a bath or shower or both has, in my opinion, encouraged people to be over-fastidious when it comes to matters of personal hygiene.

Most folk I know bath or shower every day, a regime when I believe to be both unnecessary and unhealthy, for it has been proved scientifically that too much washing dries the skin, eliminates essential oils and bacteria and leaves the body open to infection.

It is quite clear that the use of moisturisers, creams, oils and a huge variety of expensive medical products would not be necessary if people stopped bathing excessively.

I believe we should return to the days when Friday night was bath night - I'm convinced we would all be a lot healthier.
