WITH regard to Eric Cantona appearing at the BIC on Tuesday night, never before have I been to any event and felt the need to send an email of complaint within an hour of leaving the venue.

On Tuesday night I was sold an evening with Eric Cantona. What I got was 20 minutes with a fourth-rate comedian telling out-of-date jokes about people with dyslexia and overweight women. Then an auction which lasted about 15 minutes.

I don’t remember seeing either of these billed on the flier for this event.

After a 25-minute interval, at 9pm Eric Cantona came onto the stage to be interviewed.

He managed to mumble his way through that for 50 minutes at which point the compere announced he didn’t go to bed until two in the morning and was up again at six to get to Bournemouth, so it was time to call it a night.

I am sorry to say that’s not the audience’s problem and it made what was already a poor evening into a terrible waste of money.

I do not consider 50 minutes to be an evening with Eric Cantona, nor do I consider this event to have been anywhere near value for money.
