I WAS pleased to read that one of the councillors (Mr Barfield) who had not paid his council tax on time has resigned. But I’m still waiting for the others, namely Mr Decent and Mr Kelsey, to do likewise.
While we are paying these people and others on the three councils locally good monies to represent us, they are fighting among themselves.
If we have to fill the black hole in the budget, let’s rid ourselves of the insignificant councillors and reduce the payments to the remainder, who are too large in number anyway, and therefore help in paying for much-needed services.
While writing this letter, I would like to whole-heartedly support the Echo editor, Mr Andy Martin, on his piece (Thursday, January 5) regarding the threat of Section 40 of the Crime and Courts Act being implemented and our democracy being threatened.
