WHEN are they going to stop this lunacy?
Most accidents happen near your home, it is said.
Thursday afternoon, it was fairly quiet, a few cars about, going much faster than the permitted 30mph.
I had just been down to post a couple of letters and was returning on the pavement, but luckily facing the traffic, when only one house away a car mounted the pavement out of control and headed straight at me.
Now, luckily I saw him in time. There is also a wide verge outside each house and within a split second I was fast enough to get onto it. The car then managed to straighten up and speed off.
Five minutes earlier I would not have seen him, as I was walking down the pavement the other way. Also, what about the schoolchildren who use this road every day, what about the mums with their prams, what about my grandchildren, who often scoot down with me to post a letter.
This was a person driving too fast, phone to his ear. When is this country going to wake up and do something about this ridiculous situation. People are getting maimed and killed every day.
Over to you, Mrs May.
