I UNDERSTAND ‘Europeans’ living in the UK are worried regarding their status post Brexit?
As for the Polish people here, I would like to make two points. We failed them twice and so we owe them something.
Firstly, we failed them in 1939 when we said we would defend them, knowing full well that without Russia’s help, this was impossible.
And, indeed, we failed them a second time in 1945 when we went back on our word to defend them and handed them over to the Russian regime, which was almost as brutal as Hitler’s.
So, indeed, I would suggest they have a right to reside permanently here, whether Brexit sticks or not.
