I FEEL that I have to respond to John Mathieson about the traffic in Poole Park; his fourth reason in particular.
A few years ago I was in the Friends of Poole Park group and the subject of traffic using the park as a ‘rat run’, meaning that vehicles were only using the park road as a bypass, plus going too fast, arose.
This was refuted by some committee members until Poole council employed a bona fide consultant, who in turn produced a very comprehensive survey showing the complaints were well-founded.
I do have a copy of their findings as, no doubt, Poole council still has.
So if Mr Mathieson would like to get in touch with them, he would then see for himself – incidentally, he almost admits in reason five of his letter about the traffic volumes in Parkstone Road, using the park road to ease the traffic flow.
I used to drive through the park when it was 8mph, which, believe me, was very difficult to keep to as any other driver at that time will tell you.
