I HAVE recently been informed by Dorset County Council (DCC) that, as from August 6, 2016, there will no longer be a bus service in the River Way and St Catherine’s Hill areas.

This means that the large number of disabled and elderly people who live in this area will be deprived of access to Christchurch etc.

The nearest bus stop is at The Grove, which is too far for many of us to walk to.

DCC told me they have to make cuts to balance the books, and yet in the Echo on Wednesday, June 29, there was an article saying that senior managers at the council were in line for a pay rise.

One of them, Assistant Chief Executive Patrick Ellis, will have his salary rise from £93,000 to £100,000 – no man is worth that much money. And yet, they cannot find enough money to subsidise our buses.

What is more important – an executive pay rise, or public transport for those in need?
