IT WAS more fun after the parachute opened...

At 70 years, I was not doing a skydive for fun, only to raise funds for our charity Fernheath Play, but it was better than I expected and so far it has raised more than £5,000.

So I want to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who sponsored me and to say there is still time for late contributions.

Please see http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/PaddyWilliamson.

All monies raised go to help us keep our play centre running (we have no paid fundraiser and depend on voluntary contributions).

Thank you also to our patron Conor Burns and all who came, or contributed in any way, to our 40th anniversary celebration on June 19, a good day in spite of the weather.

Although we could not contact everyone involved over the last 40 years it was good to see some of our old club members and former staff.

If anyone who has benefited from Fernheath playground over the years would like to help in any way to keep it going for future generations, see www.fernheath-play.org.uk and contact Fernheath play centre, Verney Road, West Howe, BH118DA or e-mail:joe@fernheath-play.org.uk.
