JUST give me a uniform, the authority to fine the ignorant dog owners and 25 per cent of the fines I levy and I could make myself very well off and reduce council taxes throughout the borough.

Today alone I saw three dogs on Avon Beach during a 45-minute walk.

When I fish off the beach at night the situation worsens.

A dog warden would easily pay for himself short-term and hopefully make himself redundant in the medium-term, but our beaches would be cleaner.

Add fines for cycling on 'no cycling' promenades and fines for dogs off leads on same promenades and the whole improvement would be self-funding.
