FOR years the footpath running from the tennis court in Meyrick Park up past the end of St Valerie Road and ending at the end of St Augustin’s Road has been deteriorating, in part due to the surface being regularly churned up by council vehicles.

For almost a year there have been three mounds of mud and other debris piled up alongside parts of the path. The council has now started spreading that mud and other debris over the surface of the footpath, effectively burying the footpath.

It seems inevitable that any further rain will turn that whole area into a no-go area for the many residents and visitors who have enjoyed walking along that path for many years. This is unacceptable. The council should clear that whole area and lay a sustainable footpath immediately.
