I WOULD like to add that The Friends of Upton Country Park, although not mentioned in the article ‘Five petitions, 10,000 signatures: but will Poole council take notice?’ firmly opposed the introduction of parking charges in Upton Country Park at their AGM held recently.

This has been communicated to the council.

It will be interesting to see if the cabinet changes its mind over the resolution they passed on January 14, 2014.

This stated that cabinet approves that no car parking charges be introduced at park-based public car parks.

With regard to the suggestion to introduce car parking charges in public park open space areas, the cabinet was unanimous in its support to maintain a non-charging policy in these areas, both for health and well-being reasons and to encourage the use of public open space.

So will this council now demonstrably cast aside any thought for the ‘health and well-being’ of Poole residents?
