REGARDING your story on the talk of building 500 or so houses around Lytchett Minster and the flooding issue.
Last summer on a visit to our high street bank in Poole, we were asked if we would like a quote for house insurance.
We agreed they could and they punched in our address and other details – came back the reply "too high flood risk", and we were shown the door.
We have house insurance, not from the high street, but have been refused at the mention of Lytchett Minster, even though we haven’t been flooded at our address.
Those are the results of the village as it is. What will the results of the village be if they ever cover some of the ‘water sponge’ fields with concrete in the future?
My guess is that insurance premiums will be huge – if you can get a quote at all.
I don’t think houses built on stilts will ever catch on in Dorset and, perhaps, this particular stretch of Green Belt land should be left for everyone to enjoy.
A BUTFOY Orchard Close, Lytchett Minster
