I WAS very pleased to read Stephen Bath in the Echo on Monday urging people not to give up travel plans to visit Paris. His point I am sure resounding with millions, now is the time of all times we need to show solidarity with the people of this great city.

In fact many may not know, but Paris is the host city for the world’s largest yet Global Climate Conference starting on November 30. Many worldwide have been deeply worried that the conference would not go ahead. However, world leaders including Barack Obama have confirmed they are attending.

The conference goes ahead, as planned. As French President Francois Hollande said: “The world conference brings hope and solidarity to us all.”

Also to be noted in support of the Paris Conference many hundreds of cities around the world, including London, Edinburgh, and Cardiff, are running climate support marches and parades on weekend of November 28/29.

And this includes Bournemouth, which is running Dorset Parade for the Planet, an upbeat family-friendly event with a parade around the Lower Gardens on that Saturday.

All the more reason now since Friday in Paris that large numbers of people in our towns come along and support. Speaking up for care of our climate, world humanity, solidarity with our neighbours in Paris.
