ON November 3 and 4 blackouts across Britain were just about avoided by emergency measures.

The £30 billion invested in wind turbines returned very little in power generation on those days, because the wind was not blowing.

The dire situation of UK electricity supply has been caused by EU regulations restricting the use of fossil fuels. The government is now turning to nuclear to replace fossil fuels such as coal and gas.

The planned power station Hinckley C will cost £18 billion; 10 times the cost of an equivalent fossil-fuel powered station.

It is time to pull the plug on the European Union before EU regulations pull the plug on Britain.
