A HARD-HITTING presentation at Bournemouth’s Environment & Transport Scrutiny Panel on October 7 warned that Bournemouth faces great challenges from extreme weather.
The panel was warned that reputational damage from floods, sewage and loss of business could be far-reaching.
It is good to hear that Bournemouth Borough Council are keen to promote clean energy and behaviour change. Perhaps this could be prioritised in the many excellent forums in the conurbation.
Council leader John Beesley has responded positively to Michael Bloomberg, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change (and former Mayor of New York) on cities’ climate action in the Compact of Mayors.
The Compact of Mayors was created to make people aware of the full power of city action.
The international community is working towards a climate treaty in Paris and it’s wonderful that Bournemouth is keen to become a global leader on climate change at this critical time.
