YOUR correspondent Peter French (‘Navitus Bay cost issues’, letters, August 29) is evidently happy to see this country continue using fossil fuels into the future.

Such a view shows he is in denial over man-made climate change.

Indeed, as has been pointed out in the Echo in the past, it has been evident in recent months that the majority of comment against the proposed Navitus wind farm comes from people who hold such a view.

This makes a lot of sense.

If somebody denies the need to cut mankind’s greenhouse gas emissions, why not support the exploitation of our fossil fuel resources?

Who needs wind farms? There is plenty of oil still in the ground.

There are even untapped oil reserves equivalent to fifty-years-worth of Navitus sat right under Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch.

Exploiting such oil reserves only make sense in an imaginary world where climate change is not a major threat facing our grandchildren.
