WITH regards to the newly planted dead tree in Ashley Road, I am glad two residents have spoken out on this, in letters in the Echo on June 12 and July 2.

It really is shocking. Two of the other new trees are leaning over. All of them should of course have been staked. And with tarmac nearly up to the trunks, how on earth is rain water supposed to get to the roots?

And not just these new trees. We used to have a tree in a raised planter at the junction with Madeira Road. That too was leaning at an angle, never staked. When then we reported it, council came and cut it down, so now there is no tree.

And you have to ask, after all the councillors’ very high profile activity in May, doing the rounds all round the area, where are they now there are local issues to deal with?

Very poor from Poole council. They need to sort this out urgently. After all the months of work the trees and landscape are supposed to be the outstanding new features for Ashley Road. Absolutely disgraceful to not get this right and then just leave the trees, one dead and two clearly needing staking.
