WELL done to Cllr Anne Rey for raising the issue of the lack of performers occupying the bandstand in the Bournemouth Lower Gardens.

I was recently in one of the tearooms of a hotel overlooking the bandstand. Every customer there had something to say about the fact that it seemed to be empty most of the time and all thought it was a big loss to the town.

Having lived in Bournemouth for the past 60 years and watched residents and visitors enjoying the sight and sounds coming from the gardens’ bandstand, all I hear now is a very sad silence.

I would urge a rethink on this undoubted asset.
