AS a parish we are pleased that the C13 road will be re-opened with traffic mitigation.

However, it is of concern that our scenario of opening it to light traffic only in order to keep the traffic flowing was not considered.

Highways engineers referred to the report by consultants Brody Forbes that suggested a car could be buried if a slope collapsed as a reason for not adopting this suggestion but it appears that this will not happen if HGVs also use the road!

This anomaly was not picked up in the meeting.

The same report also highlighted that HGVs unnecessarily using the road in preference to the main A350 had undercut the slopes.

We are grateful that the Chairman and Leader of Dorset County Council Cllr Gould extended the courtesy of allowing us to address the meeting.
