YET more chaos recently on our local roads and many people pointing the finger of blame at speeding motorists.

Not always the case as I witnessed on Wednesday morning coming from a school down Slades Farm Road towards Columbia Road. I came to a stop behind two cars with what appeared at first to be a collision between a truck and a car in front of them. This assumption soon dispersed as the driver and passengers of the truck got out and walked away from the incident.

After some shouting and exchanges of words it transpires that the incident was in fact fired by ego as both drivers had attempted to get through a space not big enough for two and neither were going to concede and reverse to allow the resulting queue of traffic to disperse.

While waiting for it to be resolved I noticed on the left hand grass verge/pavement a person on a mobility scooter unable to stay on the pavement because of a car parked, obstructing them. Fortunately the ground was fairly solid to take the weight of the scooter as it manoeuvred around. Although not major chaos, but these two incidents still led to others having to make allowances for three motorists and their stubbornness and perhaps laziness, both quite unnecessary.
