WHY do the borough council turn street lights off at around 12.15am?

The one remaining light that was left on has now been switched off as well.

Having a large elderly population here this policy seems to be contrary to the usually convenient health and safety regulations.

It is well known that elderly people have to get out several times in the night, to do so in pitch darkness can only be more hazardous.

An answer is required and one hopes it will not be part of a cost saving policy, although I fear it may be given that Christchurch Borough Council are one of few in the south putting up council tax.
