One of our staff at Bournemouth council has now left – Julian Sandy, who worked in Early Years and was the organiser of the brilliant Meyrick Park Family Festival which was held on the last Thursday in July.
Last year we celebrated the resurrected Children’s Festival, which was last held 100 years ago, and Julian worked so hard to recreate the event.
The Mayor rode in a horse drawn carriage from the town centre to Meyrick Park followed by the members of the council, and lots of families and schoolchildren walked behind.
It was an amazing sight on a beautiful summer’s day.
The children were presented with medals to commemorate the day and the smiles on their faces, I’ll never forget.
Sadly there won’t be a Meyrick Park Family Festival this year and thousands of people will be so disappointed.
Thank you Julian for all of your hard work and dedication.
You will be sadly missed.
CLLR ANNE REY, Bournemouth council
