I WONDERED, years ago, at the decision to stop using the bus station in Bournemouth.

It was turned into a car park because, we were assured, we needed a car park more than somewhere for buses to stop.

There are now too many buses trying to get out of the Gervis Place bus waiting area.

I have recently been on a bus involved in an accident with another bus in this area.

This was caused by too many buses trying to stop and start and take on and off load passengers in too small an area.

I am surprised that this problem was not addressed when the Square was remodelled.

Surely it would be a good idea to take a bit off the pedestrianised area to give buses more room to stop/start and manoeuvre.

There obviously is room to do so, because the Christmas Market huts don’t seem to impede the pedestrian flow and I am sure this space could be put to better use in making it easier for bus drivers and safer for the public.
