I CANNOT imagine why the plans are being considered for Horseshoe common in Bournemouth.

Having been in the taxi business for over 30 years, I can remember when the taxi rank was set up at horseshoe common and why.

There were numerous clubs opening and it was decided to stagger the closing times so there was not a huge crowd of people coming out of the clubs at one time.

But also, the taxi rank was proposed so people could find their way to a taxi quickly and the taxis could clear the street so as to avoid noise and problems arising.

With flats being built nearby, anyone living in that vicinity will find they want club goers to go home as soon as possible.

What will happen is the people will loiter and slowly walk to the next closest ranks. During this time there will be too many people in one area causing more noise and creating problems.

Young girls would end up walking, sometimes alone, up Old Christchurch Road or round to Westover on their own which is the last thing we want.

The police were involved in the decision on the rank at Horseshoe common and they too know what it is like with hundreds of people who have been drinking gathering in one place.

I hope the council discuss this proposal further as it will cause many problems if carried through.
