ANOTHER nail in the coffin of the High Street and town centre. First it was out of town shopping, then internet shopping, and now Health and Safety.
In 2010 I was privileged to take part in Poole’s Christmas parade as Mayor of Poole, and will always remember, as I made my way through thousands of people, the look of sheer joy on the faces of the children that Father Christmas had arrived in Poole on an RNLI boat and was being transported to his grotto in the Dolphin Centre.
I can assure you that out of town shopping and internet shopping can never produce a Santa Parade, and that the demise of such an event in Poole will do nothing but diminish the centre of Poole.
I would implore people to contact Poole Town Centre Management and the Dolphin Centre Management to reverse this ridiculous health and safety decision.
When something is so successful that it is deemed dangerous, don’t stop it, find a way to enhance it for the benefit of Poole, its High Street and shopping centre.
CHRIS BULTEEL, Mount Road, Poole
