WITH reference to a letter on 28th August regarding Poole High Street railway crossing.

It seems to me that a relatively easy and cheap method of easing the stampede at the crossing would be to paint a solid white line down the middle and ask people to keep to the left.

This could be achieved by painting the instructions on the pavement and if the council coffers can manage it maybe a written sign on a post.

At least people would all be travelling in the same direction, relatively speaking, and would soon get used to the idea.

The same principle could also be applied to the bridge itself. Albeit with less impact.

At the moment it is akin to motor traffic using both sides of the road.
