I CAN’T help wondering just how many Scots preparing to vote YES in Thursday’s referendum realise that there will be no going back if Scotland does leave The Union.
When, in a few years time, they realise that the land of milk and honey promised by Alex Salmond and the SNP proves to have been an impossible dream, they won’t be able to knock on the door and ask to come home.
The United Kingdom wields an influence upon the global stage out of all proportion to its economic and geographical size. Do the Scots really want to cut themselves adrift from the rest of this 300-year-old family of nations?
If they do walk out of the door on Thursday, they leave home for good.
