CAN I add my thank you to all those that were involved with this year’s air festival, not just for myself but for the gentleman I met and conversed with on Saturday afternoon at Slades Farm.

The gentleman concerned had walked from his home uphill with the aid of two walking sticks to the top of Slades Farm, which was an achievement in itself, in the hope of catching a glimpse of some of the display.

He said his age was 80 something but could not remember exactly, bless him, and had missed last year’s show as he was ill at the time.

He asked me which way he would have to look and as I stood with him we saw the Vulcan and the Red Arrows, his obvious pleasure in watching these aircraft was heart warming and that 30 minutes that we stood there had made his year, he informed me, and with that he started his walk back home, leaving me slightly humbled.
