FURTHER to Cllr. Xena Dion letter (Aug 30th) re Jubilee road toilets, stating that local councils are not obliged to supply toilets, but since I was a nipper most shopping centres had somewhere to ‘spend a penny’, an unwritten law that was as normal as breathing, why change now?

Surely in this day and age with an ageing population, they require public toilets more than ever. Why not spend a fraction of the millions the council have recently spent for cars round the corner in Ashley Road, that has not helped moving traffic one iota, it was not all covered with a grant.

Do something for the shopping public, build a modern toilet that all ratepayers could be proud of, even if they have to spend the equivalent of a ‘penny’, maybe 20p, with disabled a special key.
