The point made in one of the letters in Tuesdays Echo (August 26) highlights the concern I have made in writing to Poole Borough Council recently, which to this day they choose to ignore!

The so called ‘improvements’ to Ashley Road involved replacing – at vast expense, the perfectly functioning traffic and pedestrian crossing lights at the Mansfield/Victoria Road and Churchill/Richmond Road intersections with dangerous “silent’’ pedestrian crossing lights. The fatal accident awaiting a blind person or child will, when its too late, bring home to all the folly of this expensive scheme.

I realise that with a firm located within the Borough of Poole who manufactures traffic lights etc. that there may be some incentive for members of the Council to spend our money on these schemes, but it should not be wasted on unnecessary, retrograde and dangerous equipment.
