I RECENTLY went into a local Post Office to send a small packet.
Worryingly, I was asked, “Does it need insuring, do you need to track it, do you require a signature on receipt, do you need proof of posting and do you want a Lottery ticket for tonight’s draw?”
What confidence does that give me in the quality of service I can expect from the Royal Mail?
Do they know something I don’t? Are they willing it to go astray?
Then to cap it all, I had to request a receipt for my cash!
Apparently the days are gone when a “stamp” from Her Majesty would ensure my packet would be treated with respect and arrive promptly and safely at its destination.
