I REFER to Mike Unsworth’s letter, ‘We respond to public concern’ (Echo, March 25).

At Navitus Bay’s last presentation in Swanage I asked a simple question which caused some concern because none of their ‘experts’ could/would answer it.

It was simply: ‘What energy is used to turn the blades/ alternator/generator ?’ They said they’d get back to me, they haven’t.

Energy is required/taken to turn the blades and equipment, this energy comes from the wind, ergo the air.

The seaborne air will have a high amount of moisture which will precipitate when the air gives up its energy to turn the blades, ie the energy used causes ‘adiabatic cooling’ and brings down the temperature towards the ‘dew point, result the moisture in the air condenses into mist/fog.

Such a large number of wind turbines will cause a reduction in the temperature and the formation of mist/fog down wind, (adiabatic cooling).

I was also going to ask: ‘Is it sensible to erect such a large wind farm under the South West Departure point for UK air traffic (12 miles SSE Swanage) where a constant stream of airliners climb to their designated Flight Level. Finally there is the question of the health of those living along the south coasts of Dorset and Hampshire due to ‘Wind Farm Syndrome’ recognised as a real illness?
