FOLLOWING Dorset Police’s Light Up campaign for cyclists I wonder if they have any plans for a similar one for motorists?

In the current weather conditions there are too many instances of drivers using their cars without a full set of lights.

I would suggest that there are four types of offender.

i) The unfortunate one who regularly check their lights but suffers a genuine bulb failure, they probably have a replacement bulb to hand.

ii) The individual who considers that lighting up times have to be adhered to and refuses to turn their lights on during the day, irrespective of weather conditions.

iii) Someone who will sort it out at the weekend.

iv) The individual who will leave it to the next service or MOT – what other items may be deficient on such a vehicle?

I can only imagine that a campaign would benefit road safety and that its primary aim would be to educate and advise but with penalties where appropriate.
