I LIVE in Ashley Road, Upper Parkstone, and I have to say the Christmas tree in St John’s is the most undecorated public tree I have seen in my life.
The whole points of a Christmas tree is that it is decorated.
But this one isn’t.
All it has is the cheapest set of lights that I think anyone could ever find.
It’s not exactly shining forth a message of hope and inspiration.
My apologies to all who put it up but, sorry, it looks very poor indeed, all the worse with a set of council railings around it.
Four years ago we had the weird 30 foot plastic ‘traffic cone’ tree in Falkland Square, Poole, which attracted national ridicule.
Now in Upper Parksone we have an undecorated tree.
Are we just a particularly weird borough ?
Well, it is a nice fir tree in itself, but why not a living tree planted in the grounds, not destroying a new tree each year? And put some decorations on it.
